Above all, UV light kills harmful bacteria and viruses, including the common cold, influenza, and coronavirus. Bacteria and viruses are too small for physical air filters to remove, but UV light can destroy them from the inside, rendering them harmless. 

A UV light purifier also kills mold, algae, and other types of biological growth. UV light air purifiers can even kill small insects, like mites, flies, fleas, and cockroaches. 

Bad smells are a result of small airborne molecules. Even when the majority of these particles are gone, bad smells can remain. UV germicidal lights can neutralize odors by destroying the molecules that cause bad smells. UV lights can reduce the smell of burning food, cigarette smoke, and other harmful compounds. 

Unlike traditional air filters, you do not need to clean the UV light array. UV lights are practically self-cleaning, and the only maintenance is periodically switching the bulbs.
